Raphaël Calabrese
Intention
His research and contribution leads us to a new vision of abstract art, a language that invites the observer to share a pure and deep emotion. Like a musical work of art, Opus Genesis defines the artist’s desire to confront the deep expression of the birth of his work and the process of its development.

Words from the artist
« Inspiration for my abstract paintings emerges from an emotional insight. Beyond a perceptible threshold, my pictorial gesture leads me to listen to an inner voice, where I discover vibratory strata that provokes the pathway of my creations. It’s not the end result of the work that drives me, but the feeling of a process that occurs during its creation. »
Presentation of the work
A striking expression of intensity radiates from Raphaël Calabrese’s works, and immediately raises a number of questions. The construction of his work is designed to be received in its entirety, reflecting his cosmic sensitivity.
In his monochrome work, ranging from the most intense black to the lightest grey, or even white, the painter offers us structured, superimposed, open spaces, sometimes with imprecise boundaries from which emerge a depth, a musicality of silence in a cosmogonic discourse.
The iconography identifies an abstract art based on spaces animated by vertical and horizontal lines, surfaces, broad bands and geometric shapes, which intersect in their mutual relationships, driven by an almost musical rhythm, without forgetting an expressiveness based on the artist’s own dynamism.
It is at this precise moment, when he sketches out his subject, that the richness of his act takes shape. The size of the format unfolds and imposes its presence through its monumentality, offering itself as the nurturing matrix for an interactivity between the subject and its public.
In his approach, the artist bases his creation on a fertile dialogue between his inner self and his projection through his brushstrokes. He stops painting at the moment when the communication with his subject ceases, leaving the viewer free to project and reflect.
